  • DAVID HEPBURN

    Tityrus/Alchemist

    David began to study acting in 1999 with the The Actor’s Workshop in his native Glasgow. His first professional role followed in 2000 as Cameron in Ruth Graham’s Cameron’s River at the Pentameter’s Theatre, Hampstead. In 2001 David played Hamlet in Mia Stevenson’s production of Hamlet at the Ramshorn Theatre in Glasgow. After a long hiatus in which David taught medieval history, he returned to study acting in 2021 under the coaching eye of Kat Harrison. He has since starred in Nicholas Chandler’s short film Look Ahead and played Tam in Gayle Winter’s short two-hander play When I Fall in Love. “Gallathea” marks his second show with BALA after last years successful run as Orgon in Tartuffe.

  • LARA FULLERTON

    Gallathea

    Lara is a Dundee-born, Glasgow-based actor, director, and producer. Her credits include “Trilemma”, “Sidelines”, and the multi-award-winning short film “Rage”, for which she won Best Lead Actress at the Focus International Film Festival. She also enjoys taking on roles behind the scenes, having produced the 2025 short, “Wings” and directed the upcoming short, “Mission: Audition”.

    Lara is delighted to be returning to the stage with Bala and can’t wait for the audiences to enjoy the show.

  • Katy Cowan

    Phyllida

    Katy Cowan is an aspiring actor who graduated from the University of the West of Scotland in 2022 with a BA (Hons) in Performance. She joined ‘Break a Leg Academy’ in 2024, and has since enjoyed being a part of the Makers Programme. BALA Credits include: ‘Dorine’ in ‘Tartuffe’ and our first Murder Mystery show.

  • Mario Lopez Fernandez

    Neptune

    Mario is an emerging actor based in Glasgow. ‘Gallathea’ marks his second production with BALA having previously played the snivelling con man in Moliere’s ‘Tartuffe’. He is looking forward to treading the boards again as Neptune, God of the Sea whilst he simultaneously rehearses for BALA’s next production of ‘Girl in the Machine’.

    Other credits include: BBC Short Stuff and has performed in various short films produced by Big Jaw Gettys for the 48 hour film project in Scotland, most recent credits 'Roll Initiative’ for Edinburgh 48 film festival and 'Tundra' for Aberdeen 48 film festival.

  • Elene Kopadze

    Elene Kopadze

    Diana

    Elene is an actor from Georgia and graduated from Glasgow University with a Masters degree in Theatre Studies. She is experienced on stage and screen as well as in self-devised performance art. She has done research in diverse fields such as Balinese and Mexican Theatre Practices as well as Artaud’s work on “Theatre of Cruelty”.

    This is her first production with BALA and has fallen in love with the company.

  • Alison Gilmour

    Ramia/Robin

    Alison Gimour, is an actor and headshot photographer (Alison Fair Photography), who helped create and starred in Glasgow’s first monthly Dungeons and Dragons show called “Definitely Not Goblins'“. She has also starred in productions such as “Be My Baby” and “Merchant of Venice”.

  • Jennifer Cowan

    Auger

    Jennifer is a Scottish Actress with over six years experience. Born in Paisley and having trained at PACE, she has appeared in several short films: Detachment (Web Series) and upcoming Film - Mortem. Theatre Credits include: Several Pantomimes with Neilston Players and Oakshaw Trinity Theatre. One street theatre perfomance: Witches on Bikes - Halloween Festival and two Murder Mystery events with Murder57.

    This is Jennifer’s first production with BALA and is looking forward to this exciting challenge.

  • Aidan Hughes-Harkin

    Rafe

    Aidan Hughes-Harkin is a 28 year old Actor. He has been attending classes at Break a leg Academy for the past 2 years, learning new techniques and skills along the way, as well as preforming in show's such as Tartuffe last June and Murder Mysteries in October last year. He’s looking forward to bringing the character of Rafe alive in ‘Gallathea’ and working with Break a leg academy again in other upcoming Projects. 

  • Maria Anees

    Dick/Peter

    Maria Anees is dual cast as both Dick and Peter in Gallathea. An avid performer who started her journey at just 4 years old. Having drifted from performing to focus on other things, she is delighted to be returning to the stage with BALA and is enjoying meeting new friends and being back on stage again.

  • Chris Dempster

    Melebeus

    Chris Dempster is not an actor. He is just loud, suitably old looking and fills out a plaid shirt well. This is his first BALA production.

  • Niamh Halley

    Venus

    Niamh has been acting on stage since last century, in a variety of productions from plays to musicals. She has always loved language and playing Venus in an Elizabethan play, that isn’t Shakespeare, is a treat that is too good to pass up.

  • David Carnan

    Mariner/Cupid

    David is an actor and voice actor based in Glasgow. Recent credits include the Fairy in Pinocchio (Hopscotch Theatre Company) and Wee Davey/Blue in Down the Hatch! He is delighted to be part of BALA's production of ‘Gallathea’, after a successful run of ‘Tartuffe’ last year.

  • Iona Thomson

    Telusa

    Iona is an actress and creative technologist, graduating from the Glasgow School of Art. Her screen credits include Limbo (2020) and an upcoming Scottish independent feature film.

  • Kate

    Hebe

    Kate has been performing since the age of 4 and frankly did not expect to find herself still doing it at… the age she currently is. Her credits include numerous roles with Attune Theatre Company, a residency as lead vocalist with jazz sextet ‘The Rubatos’.

    Gallathea is Kate’s first production with BALA and she feels very privileged to be working alongside such an incredibly talented cast and production team.

  • Izabella Hall

    Populus

    Izabella is a talented young performer currently training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Summer School and has recently performed in the NTS show ‘Thank You Next’. Alongside her love of performance she is nurturing an avid interest in politics. You just might be watching Scotland’s next First Minister.

  • Kat Harrison

    Producer

    Kat Harrison is the founder of BALA and a working class actress, writer, director, voice over and acting coach based near Glasgow. She also founded the theatre company Chaos Collective in 2023. She has stepped into the role of Eurota after one of our Makers Members had to leave due to family commitments. She might be enjoying herself too much and needs to be bribed off the stage with snacks.

  • Frances Byrd

    Director

    Fran has been acting since she was about 4 and trained at LAMDA & ACS. She started directing more out of necessity as a teenager but soon found a passion for it. Over the years, she has directed childrens theatre, musicals, new writing and stage poetry. She has a passion for Elizabethan Theatre and this is where her heart truly belongs. Gallathea has always been one of her favourite plays and is her first production with BALA.

  • Hana Greer

    Stage Manager

    Hana is an Actor from Glasgow. This is her 2nd production with Bala as stage manager. Credits include Counsels (BBC), Nora can’t score (BBC films) and Same Team (Traverse theatre”.

  • Scott Waugh

    Assistant Stage Manager

    Training: Guildford School of Acting & Preparatory/Musical Theatre Course at the Dance School of Scotland, Knightswood Secondary School.

    Theatre Credits Include: Ensemble, The Last Ship (World Tour), Ensemble/Swing, Oliver! (Leeds Playhouse) Vicar/Understudy Robertson Ay, Northbrook & Park Keeper, Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre) Messenger Boy/ Understudy Robertson Ay, Mary Poppins (UK/Ireland/International Tours) Richie Cunningham in Happy Days - A New Musical (UK Tour).
